DIY Pineapple Jack-O-Lanterns
Decorating for a Hawaiian Halloween is easier than you might think, and loads of fun! All you need to do is add a tropical twist to traditional Halloween crafts and decor. This week we are going to show you how to make your very own Pineapple Jack-O-Lantern!
Step #1: Gather Your Supplies
You only need a few items to create a pineapple jack-o-lantern! Of course, the most important thing you need is a fresh pineapple. Other than that, you need a cutting board, and a few different sized knives.
Step #2: Cut Off the Top of the Pineapple
Carefully using one of your larger knives, remove the top of your pineapple to expose the delicious inside of your pineapple with a simple, single slice.
Step #3: Core Your Pineapple
Remove the inside fruit of your pineapple to hollow it out. Use a long knife to cut the initial circle, leaving a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of pineapple along the edges. Then, take a smaller knife and do your best to remove the core of the pineapple by cutting it into smaller pieces. This part is a bit more difficult than with a pumpkin, which is already basically hollow! You will also notice lots of juice gathering in the interior of the pineapple. You can either soak it up with paper towels or pour it out.
Step #4: Carve a Face into Your Pineapple
Just like you would for a pumpkin, carve out a face into your pineapple! Be careful to leave enough room in between the eyes and as you carve the mouth so that the side doesn't cave in.
Step #5: Enjoy Your Tropical Jack-O-Lantern
Pineapples, as you know, are very juicy, so soak up the extra juices with a paper towel before putting a candle, or battery powered candle inside your pineapple jack-o-lantern.
